ParticipantThe fan that sits under the glass lid on the roof of the microwave is noisy and rattling, it seems loose.
Trouble is i can’t seem to identify it or the crescent shape fan impellors on the fan motor shaft.
I know I’m probably proving my ignorance when it comes to microwaves but it would be good to not have to pass it over to the manufacturer for what seems like a faulty motor.
ThanksDecember 7, 2017 at 3:18 pm #452209electrofix

Hi Dave,
Yes definitely that as can hear it clinking around and the shaft feels wobbly.
Just got to work out how to get into the beast, tended to turn down microwave repairs recently.December 7, 2017 at 8:32 pm #452213electrofix

this wave stirrer only turns slowly and the shaft has play because it does not have to be that accurate. to be certain disconnect 1 wire to the drive motor and insulate and try.
this unit is only turning at 9rpm so is less likely to rattle. if you get it wrong with these sort of parts it gets costlyDave

Thanks Dave, didn’t realize it was meant to be loose.
Will go back to check, 🙂December 8, 2017 at 8:33 am #452215SWERV

I would also agree that it is the fan motor part number 641197. I have replaced a handful for being very noisy.

Thank you for your replies, went back and checked and yes it was indeed the noisy fan motor that I’ve now replaced.
