    Hi,

My electric oven takes the entire house electricity down. What happens is that I set the oven to maximum and then, around the time it reaches full temperature, it trips out the whole house. If I go to the fuse box and switch back on the oven comes back on, as does the house (of course). A minute later the same thing happens. If I set the temp to a lower setting, it still happens, it just takes a longer.

If I allow the oven to heat up and then manually reduce the temperature to the point where the thermostat switches it off, the operation is fine. It does not peear to be anything to do with the moment of switch on/off. It seems to have to do with reaching high temperature. Somehting is shorting out perhaps?

Somebody said the element was most likely my problem, but why? If the element had gone then surely the heater would not work at all, and it does.

Guys, I took notice of your sticky topic to give my model number but it is not visible even after I have taken the thing right out. No number plate anywhere. I am sending a piciture to NEFF to get them to identify it for me.

    Regards

    Jo

    This:

    is a good explanation.

The fan oven element will almost certainly be breaking down to earth under load.

There should be a rating plate on the framing of the oven surround.
