Neff dishwasher door malfunction

I have a NEFF dishwasher, 60cm, standard fully integrated S51E50X1GB which is about four years old.

It works fine apart from the access door. (I presume the door has some sort of counter spring/balance to stop it ‘dropping’ unrestrained when you open it.)

Whatever the mechanism is it no longer works. Friday night it was ok Saturday morning it wasn’t.

Grateful for any advice or guidance about how I go about fixing it.
