    Hello Forum,

My 3-year-old Neff dishwasher stopped working correctly and on investigation I have found what is probably a manufacturing defect with the internal case. The internal case has stainless steel top, back and sides and is joined to the plastic bottom water tray on 3 sides leaving an opening for the access door. The dishwasher is integrated so when I pulled it out of the kitchen unit to disconnect the power I saw what looked like food along the external edges of the above-mentioned joint, on closer inspection I see there was water there and this had made its way down into the base of the washer, probably affecting the electrical components so preventing it operating correctly. I’m an engineer so realise this problem is a defect as the bottom and sides are not designed to come apart once joined in manufacture.

Does anyone have any practical advice about tackling the problem so as not to protract the repair or replacement of the dishwasher? Has anyone had similar issues defects with NEFF Dishwashers?

Re: Neff dishwasher internal seal leak.

It is a common failing on these machines. Often the rear corner the most vulnerable and detergent detritus leeches out.

No easy cure I’m afraid and the only solution is to clean the area and apply sealant along the edges, overlapping both sides of the affected area. An epoxy resin sealant the best, most resilient solution.

I have a theory that it only affects those appliances that are not correctly located resulting in a slight twist in the cabinet over time that causes the stainless liner to lift fractionally away from its plastic tub base. Bad installs on uneven floors and lop-sided carcass fitting always results in this problem.

Free standing versions of this type of dishwasher rarely suffer the same problem. (No comfort for you sadly, just an observation on my part)

Just to add to Martin’s comments 😉

The polyinox bases can also lift / twist if the consumer uses the hot wash all the time. We too have tried the silicone route which usually lasts for a few months before it happens again.

As far as I am concerned in the shop I will not ( unless I have to 😉 ) sell a dishwasher with this type of base. Stainless steel on all sides is the way to go.
