ParticipantS4430W0GB/08 FD7911. I have a puzzeling problem with this pretty straight forward m/c. It was’nt pumping out the water properly so as the pump was very rattely i replaced it. Still the same. If i remove the hose that comes from the pump, from the air break system it pumps fine. The outlet hose on the other side of the air break is clear of blockages. When the pump is operating it does’nt seems to push the water up the air break tube enough to get over the other side to the out let. Could this be anything to do with the gunge in the little bit at the top of the air break system, its completley clogged? Does it have to be able to draw air in from here for the water to flow out?
Any Help Please.Thanks

Block air-break won’t help – you can rinse a lot of it out with a good rinse and shaking session. Rattly old pump probably has worn impellor blades, so I’d change it.

Hi Chris
I did replace the pump and also tried to wash out the gunge in the air break system although it didn’t clear much.
At the top of the air break is an air hole, if i block one of the two outlet holes at the other end and blow up the other no air at all escapes out the air hole. Im curious to know if this is right or not. I don’t want to have to order an an air break system if it don’t solve the problem (although i can’t see what else it could be). Thanks

There’s a plunger mechanism in there. If there is a drain blockage or a blockage in the drain side of the matrix, the plunger is supposed to lift and recycle the water back into the machine through the fill side of the matrix. Got to be a restiction somewhere, I suppose……

have you checked the hose from the pump to the air break chamber, and espiecally where it enters, if its not lifting the water over the air break, there could a blockage right at the point of where the hose goes in, and a classic is cling film.. as you cant see it.

I wouldn’t worry too much over the gunged up plunger/air vent unit in the matrix if I were you. Many through time get clogged up totally and yet don’t affect the drain out. The device’s function purely acts as an anti-syphon device, that’s all. 😉

pull both hoses off the side chamber, the entry to the chamber or the extit from the side chamber will be blocked with foil or cling film. thats the usual!! dont worry about the blocked air break, it is only there to stop it sucking water back from the drain. It is not to feed water back into the machine in the event of a blockage! It may even be worth removing and cleaning the anti return flap located in the pump area
