ParticipantHi all,
Any help much appreciated – I know nothing about dishwashers!
We have a (built in) Neff dishwasher – don’t know the model number but it’s about 10/12 years old. The problem we are having is that it keeps filling up with water when not in a cycle – the pump periodically kicks in to drain some of it out. This is clean water and it stops when I turn off the water feed.
Upon closer inspection I noticed that the water is tricking in from a hole inside the machine near where I assume the water hose is connected. It seems to have washer which doesn’t look in particularly good shape – could this be the cause? I’ve uploaded an image if it helps – https://ibb.co/H2sjxjy
Is this most likely to be the problem? How easy is it to disconnect it all to replace this washer if so?Thanks,

Moderatorthat’s not your problem. if it is clean water then it sounds like your inlet valve has failed
on the very top of the door in the middle, on the stainless steel you should find an almost invisible label with the Enr number and the FD number to enable me to suggest a part

Moderatorfor some crazy reason the repair kit for this is more expensive then the complete hose
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/299756-dishwasher-aquastop-fill-hose 71.95
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/263789-dishwasher-aquastop-fill-valve £72.23
either will work but since 299756 is cheaper and gives you everything its a no brainerDave

ParticipantThanks – appreciate it. Is there any way I could check for sure that it is the valve? Also how difficult is it to fit one of these things?

ParticipantJust as an addition just prior to this starting to happen one of my children was messing around with it and turned it on and my wife apparently turned the whole thing off half way through the cycle (as there were no dishes in it) – could this have caused the problem or just coincidence?

Moderatorno amount of turning it on and off will cause this
bottom line is this
when the unit is unplugged from mains power there are only 2 ways the dishwasher can have water getting in1 drain hose. Sometimes drain hoses are positioned in such a way that the unit back fills from you sink every time you use the sink. it will be dirty water entering the machine
2 water valve water valve can fail so just like a dripping tap they leak a bit of water through and slowly fill the unit. Easy to check as if you turn off the tap to the unit it will stop filling
not too bad a fit locks in a plate at the rear and you will have to take left hand side off to connect the pipe
while your in there check the water metering unit item 263186 on page 4 of the diagrams ( diagrams here https://www.neff-home.com/uk/service/care-protection-and-parts/spare-parts)
these have a habit along with the pipe 298556 of getting blocked with gunge over the years
