Never seen one of these before.Customer said it was working fine, he had a duvet and some smalls in and when the programme ended he found the smalls dry but the duvet needed a bit more. He reset and pressed start but nothing happened.
All visual checks and insulation tests OK. Condenser is clean and lower inspection panel is in place. Machine is in a warm kitchen.
Observations.
1: When you turn the right hand ‘Programme Selection’ knob the corresponding lights above the knob change with selection. If you turn the left hand ‘Special Programmes’ knob it has no effect at all, no lights come on and no change in programme time.
2: Regardless of what setting you have the right hand programme knob set to the display time changes but on the top, horizontal row of progress lights only the rotary iron light comes on when you press ‘Start’. Set it to extra dry. cupboard dry etc and those progress lights do not come on, only the rotary iron light.
Any suggestions most welcome.

If you mean the one above the heater then that is fine, checked and tested.

All cables appeared sound, are there any error codes or test routines for this model?

If it doesn’t start but still counts down then it’s probably the door lock.

Also , if I remember correctly , the programme selection dorsal and the special program dials work separately. The special programs won’t work unless the programme selector dial is in the off position. By having the program in the 12 o’clock position , you should be able to select a special program and set the time accordingly……If that makes sense?

Thawing out on the tram home from a bloody freezing Old Trafford.
Thanks for that Paul, will ask them to check the countdown. l’m pretty certain that the specials knob had no effect even when the right hand knob was set to 12.00 o’clock.

Agree with the door lock.
I would squirt WD40 into the lock opening and rapidly open and close the door a few times. If it starts ok in the end, would suggest a new door lock. They do have a habit of getting dry and sticky with age.March 3, 2016 at 10:58 am #435961iadom

How easy/difficult is it to change a door lock on this machine?

Not hard, just awkward.
Hardest thing I find is to not fully remove the front panel, and to not upset the lower panel removing bar to much.
Torx 10 for the screws holding the switch in place.
Top plate off, fascia off, undo the front screws, and tease evrything as gently as you can.Can remeber for sure but side panels might have to come off to allow front panel to move. The more you are able to leave on the easier it is to reassemble.March 3, 2016 at 4:19 pm #435963iadom

There certainly doesn’t appear to be much room for manoeuvre. 🙂

Looks like you where definitely on the right track guys.
Customer ( long time friend ) has just phoned to say his teenage daughter had ‘fixed’ it. 😀Apparently she didn’t know it was broken, popped home from uni and stuck some washing on. As teenagers are prone to doing she slammed the dryer door closed and it worked.
I have advised on the WD40 trick and if it fails again will know what to look out for.
Thanks for all the replies.Jim.
