Neff DW S5453

machine is stuck with the tap & salt light on no water in base assume that its a fault code but what one is it ?

Not much to go on Lawrence and the full model would be helpful as the later models do differ somewhat to the earlier models . Anything with an end 2 digits higher than 55 i.e S5453X1GB/55 and the machine has a different water level system .

A better description of the actual problem would be helpful too.

The salt and tap led’s are not normally used for fault codes.

The tap led is for ‘check water supply’ and normally only appears when :

a: The impellor jug ( flow rate meter ) has gone faulty – This will give a constant fill/drain/fill/drain problem at the start of the cycle

b: The drain pump is blocked and this has caused an ‘overfill’

c: There is no water pressure into the appliance

If i was a betting man i’d go for a faulty impellor jug – part no: 424099 – as its a fairly common fault

As for the salt light…….it probaly just needs salt 🙂

Hi
Have the fault on the above dishwasher that is filling/draining continuously at the start of the cycle and the tap fault light is on.
Has anyone changed the impellor jug before? as need to price the labour accordingly, any advice I would be greatfull.

For every 1 that I change the impeller jug in I clean 20 pressure chambers – it could be either but in my experience it is mainly just a case of taking the pressure chamber out and cleaning it.

Left hand side between the water tank and the salt/resin tank – It has 2 micro switches on it and you can see instantly if it looks gungy.

You will want to turn off the water supply to the machine then make it fill to empty the water tank, after that undo the one screw that holds the corner block on at the top back of the machine and you should be able to lift the tank up and out of the way then unplug the micro switches and using a finger up underneath un-clip the the chamber and pull it up also disconnecting the hose from it as you go, you will want to clean the hose that leads to from it to the sump as well.
The only panels that you should need to remove are the top, left hand side, kickplate and the little panel along the front behind the kick plate. Just remember to refit the red rod when you put it all back as it is easy to forget (done it more than once and then had to take it apart again to fit it.)

The impellor jug appliances are later models and have different pressure chambers . I’d say this fault – because of the ‘check water’ light – will be an impellor jug replacement. 😉
