Blue tip
ParticipantHello all,
an interesting one. A Neff technician came out to repair the Neff oven which was not heating using the fan oven (a bang was heard in the kitchen and the power tripped). The fan still works.
He explained the circular element is not heating – while the element still exists for sale here http://www.neff.be/fr/store/eshop-liste-des-produits/00499003, the back plate which is removed to access the element has to be replaced at the same time, something to do with the screws it would seem… As this plate part is no longer available, the repair is no longer possible apparently as the parts are only guaranteed for 15 years.
What do you think? Could the back plate be removed successfully and reused on this model?
It’s B1441N0EU/03 (Benelux market), FD 7804 B-AP22-4, 18 years old and otherwise functions. The Neff technician said it was still safe to use in other modes…
Appreciate your comments 🙂 Thanks

Total nonsense, I believe that backplate (00290278) is still available though it can be reused even if there is an issue with the mounting screws.
The element (00499003) comes without an earth tag. If your element has an earth tag then simply isolate the earth lead connector and locate it safely away from contact with other electical contacts.
I hope that helps?

Dear Martin,
that has been most helpful, thanks very much indeed.
Interesting to hear about the backplate, perhaps there is still stock in the UK. I suppose it’s only possible directly from Neff and they probably won’t sell it to a non authorised repair technician? In any case you make a convincing case that it probably doesn’t need replacing.
The original Neff element is quite expensive at over €80, is it possible to obtain a similar quality and fit with a non-original part? I have read the article on heating elements here so I recognise there is a difference in quality!

Yes pattern elements are far cheaper and often just as reliable. Search the shop on this website for a suitable alternative. 😀
