Hi there. I need to replace the element on the fan oven on a NEFF U1721. The element is retained by a series of star bolts, one of which is concealed behind the fan rotor, which I therefore need to remove. The rotor retaining nut is reverse thread and comes off OK, then there is a washer, but I still cannot budge the rotor on the spindle. What’s the trick to removing the rotor (or am I missing a trick in trying to remove it anyway)?

    Thx

You can try prising off woth fingers wobbling fan side to side of sometimes a puller is needed but i can not remember having to take fan off b4.

Is it the half-moon element with the top screw behind the fan blade ? They can be a little tricky to get out . Sometimes loosening the rear fan can give you enough room to manoeuvre the blade out of the way . If you do decide to access the rear of the oven , pls remember to power off the appliance first !!!

Thanks guys. Yes it is the half moon job with the bolt on the top bracket concealed behind the rotor. Crazy design – if you’re going to have a hidden fixing then at least leave slots in the rotor for access – as long as the slots were evenly distributed it wouldn’t unbalance the rotor. Unfortunately none of the pullers that I have (which are a fine collection, my first having been acquired many years ago to strip the clutch on my Norton Commando) will fit so it’ll have to be wiggling, although I couldn’t budge it that way to begin with.

By loosening the fan do you mean actually slackening the motor moutnings in the back of the oven?

To be honest I always isolate the oven for any work on it at all – too many jolts in there to take a chance with!
