Hi folk, hope you can help.

I recently aquired a NEFF K3960 American Fridge Freezer which was origally plumbed in but more recently been run ‘dry’ without any connection. I have now reconnected the water supply and have the following problem.

The ice maker continues to produce cubes when the bin is full and the sensor bar is lifted, this even happens when the sensor bar is manually lifted into the fully up (off) position and locked there.

Is there any obvious things to check. Does the sensor just operate a microswitch? or is there something more complicated.

Also when I flushed out the water system it was quite foul ( and green ). I have flushed a large volume through but how can I know I’ve no nastie things still living in the pipes. Can I sterilise it with something, or is it easier to replace the tubing contained within the ‘water tank’ at the base of the fridge where I suspect most of the contamination was present.

    Thanks in advance

    Martin

Sometimes the bar where it inserts into ice dispenser mechanism can pop out un detected but still give the appearance that its still activating switch inside mechanism.
If you find the bar is in correct position, then it can really only be a faulty dispenser unit.

As for flushing I must be honset Ive never had one left with water in reservoir, so pass on that sorry.

As always unplug before attempting any work on the appliance :plug:

I’ve seen this before and it was due to the switch off bar lever being broken inside the ice maker. The ice maker end frame is not shown as being available for this model.
A new ice maker unit is the thick end of £200. 🙁
Unless of course you glued it back together after first unplugging.
