Asking on behalf of new neighbours who have inherited this issue….gas lights but goes out immediately you release the control knob. I think the issue could be the flame failure device which I assume is the spike sticking up near the igniter. Sorry I don’t have a model number for this hob but was wondering if this could be a simple replacement fix or is it going to be a new hob?
    Cheers in advance

Without the ENR and FD number which are situated on the underside of the hob it’s hard to say. It does sound like like it though a Gas Safe engineer will be required to diagnose and repair.

    Hi Don,
Thanks for the heads up on where to find the info for the model no. I don’t suppose you know how it would be attached to the worktop? Never had any dealings with hobs before unfortunately…

The repair has to be done by a gas safe engineer

Neff are usually fitted with 2 small springy clips on each side. It may even have been put in with mastic, I hope not though. A torch will be needed.

if you take off the buners there are 2 things sticking up from the hob. one probe is the ignighter the other is a flame sensor to stop gas flowing if the flame gets blown out

its likely this sensing system has failed and needs to be replaced. once we get a model we could give you an idea of poss part price provided that part is faulty but as said above since your replacing a gas component it must be fitted by a suitably qualified engineer

    Thanks all,
I’ll see if I can get the model info and pass on all your suggestions. At least with that info I can see what parts if any are available and an approximate cost. They can then make an informed decision.

you can take a look at the burners. make sure all the flame slots / holes are clear. thats all you can do safely as a non professional
