We replaced a customer’s inner door glass recently on his Neff microwave and low and behold it has now shattered again – very strange. Was about to order a replacement replacement inner door when I receive a fax for another customer with the same model with exactly the same fault. Have spoken to Appliance Care who weren’t very helpful and was wondering if any of you out there (especially if there are any Appliance Care engineers reading this) can help me. Can’t afford to keep replacing Neff doors. Thanks.

Had one once where there had been a small spot of arching on metal frame that the inner door glass fits in to, causing a hot spot that shattered the glass.

Usually grease that hasn’t been cleaned off the door glass.Just creates a hot spot.

Hi, I work for appliance care, and i have never gone back to re-replace the inner door glass, so check for any damaged enamel around the door which will cause hot spot.

yeh usually caused by carbonised food deposits around edge where frame and glass meet, however have had one (and only one) where door glass shattered again after a couple of months. when tested after glass was replaced, found that upon heating one side of the inner door frame became hot to touch very quickly whilst the opposite side was still cool. upon closer inspection found a thin clear film of something (cleaner residue?) smeared on the door interior on side getting hot. managed to clean whatever it was off, and have not been back. that example i put down to left side off door frame expanding at a greater rate than the right side causing glass to shatter.
