Neff K8524X4GB/02 Fridge / Freezer on & off – dead

Evening all,

I have a Neff K8524X4GB/02 integrated Fridge / Freezer which isn’t freezing or staying cold. Lights are on but the temperature indicator is flashing.

The main issue is that there is no constant noise, you can hear a noise that sounds like a pump (compressor) which sounds for 1 second and then stops, 3-5 minutes later it will do the same thing. So I am without a fridge/freezer and no idea how to go about fixing this.
I have seen an online company with a good reputation that quotes £175 to send someone out who will fix. No fix, no fee.

Does this sound good or is this potentially a cheap part? I am fairly technically minded and do various motor mechanics etc.

Not a cheep repair as it sounds like the compressor has seized.

Don’t be surprised if the fixed price repairer says it is not repairable even if it is fixable due to the cost and work involved.
