ParticipantHi,
I am about to buy 2 single ovens and a 5 ring induction hob.
My wife does ALOT of cooking/baking so I want to get something good quality. We have a NEFF oven for the last 10 years, but we have had to replace the element twice and the motor once. I did it myself so no big deal, but I wasn’t expecting it.
From reading around it seems that NEFF are still regarded as very good quality. But is this really the case?
I have seen a NEFF oven I want, the B15M42. Price is alright and it has enough features. About £500.
I have also seen a very nice NEFF T44T90 hob. Expensive though. About £1000.
I am very worried that I will be spending relatively big money on these items when NEFF are perhaps not up to the quality they used to be.
So my solution is to switch to Miele…. but the suitable oven is about £750 and their hob is about £2000, so they are ALOT more expensive.
Can I trust the NEFF appliances? I don’t know enough about induction hob to know are they reliable. It would be mounted over drawers.
What about Siemens, they seem to be priced at or 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} below the NEFF.
Thanks.

Hi
Quality these days is not the same as it was 20 years ago, prices are much cheaper in real terms than back then which opens up a rather large can of worms which would take this thread way off topic 😉
Bosch, Neff and Siemens are all part of the same group (BSH). You will find all three have different styles, programme features and options. BSH account for about a third of all the built in sales in the UK due to the fact they are the best out there in their price range.
Bosch and Neff typically have the standard two year warranty while Siemens will from time to time offer a promotional 5 year warranty form participating retailers. Good thing is service across all three brands is by the same engineer.
Miele on the other hand produce the best quality built in appliances there are IMO. Yes you will pay a premium price by todays standard but that’s where all prices should be for quality. Biggest problem with Miele is their desire to retain all customers by not releasing service information to independant retailers. Also the high cost of spare parts makes any repair an expensive one.
I know who I would rather deal with.

ParticipantI don’t get what you are hinting at… that you prefer the open approach even if they are not quite as good quality?
The other question I have is… are Miele good quality across the entire range of products or are there certain products they just rebrand?

If it comes to being able to support an independant retailer or a sole trader who can access spare parts easily and at a reasonable price then yes I would rather have Neff.
Miele produce all of their own appliances except refrigeration which is made for them by Liebherr.

ParticipantOK that is fine.
Are you able to explain the difference to me between the Neff T44490 5 ring induction hob and the Miele KM6382. There is a fairly massive price difference. I don’t mean what features are different… I just don’t understand what they are doing to make it higher quality.
Thanks!

Would the Neff be a T44T90 by any chance?

ParticipantSorry, yes.
I am worried on two counts…. 1 that the money I spend on a Miele is wasted…. and 2, that the Neff isn’t really worth the cost anymore anyway!
If I settle on the Neff…. then I am thinking that I might as well buy a Siemens if they are a {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} cheaper.

It’s no secret I am a big BSH fan. After all we have Bosch and Neff built in appliances at home all fitted nearly for years ago. The only problem I have had was a fault on the integrated microwave which was sorted on first visit 6 months after install.
We did not consider Miele as I could not justify the extra cost involved as like all major projects it would have gone way way over budget.
From a retailer point of view, we are Miele stockists along with Bosch and Neff. We sell 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more BSH built in product compared to Miele mainly due to customer price constraints. Don’t get me wrong the products are well designed and made to very high exacting standards. Will they outlast Neff on longevity of life? Who knows.
As an aside there is very little difference on paper between the two models you mention.

ParticipantThanks.
I haven’t seen it mentioned on other threads (I’ve been trawling) but have BSH segmented the brands in terms of quality, or is it just down to styling?
I get the impression that some Bosch appliances have been pared down.
But is there an official positioning between NEFF and Siemens?
Is one being positioned as higher quality than the other or is it just styling etc?
Thanks.

Siemens has the higher positioning, whether it’s just in branding and how it’s marketed who knows. I do know though that most of the Siemens products have enhanced features not seen on the other two brands.
