Had a problem with scew holding grill element & top plate. Screw had lost fastener. Fixed this by removing all casings and fit an alternative fitting. This all worked but now cont.knobs are getting very hot with grill use.

Suspect it is the fan (top left hand side or fan thermostat? Should mention that the male part of the lucar fitting came adrift from the plastic housing on the fan. (very tight to remove) Managed to push the male lucar back in but could this be causing the fan not to work.

Can I do a simple check to see if the fan works?
Tried turning on the grill on high with a metal dish under the element and left it for a long time to see if much heat came out of the slots just above the grill but non detected. Is the fan audible when running.
If you need any other info. let me know.
About ready to purchase nre fan motor and thermostat if necessary but don’t wish to waste money.
    Many thanks

I’ve no clue what a “lucar’ is and your post was days ago and you’ve probably messed with it more since. But firstly it would help is you gave us the full model number (aka ENr) of the beast. But it does sound to me from what I can decipher that the cooling fan needs replacing.
