odd one that has flumoxed me today:
Neff U1551NOgb/01 (the one that usus the film strip as the temp and function indicators.)

the cooling fan will come on within around 3 minutes of the power switch being turned on on the wall and will then stay on for ever more. (even if the oven is not actually used). Found that the fan is switched on by a thermostat mounted next to a ceramic hi wattage resistor which I guess should get hot when power is drawn through it hence operating the thermostat and bringing the fan on until it all cools down.
On this appliance the resistor is permantly having 240v applied across it and so is getting hot within minutes of supply being turned on. Have checked all elements for earth leakage and all is fine. The thermostats are all clicking off and no element is being energised even slightly when all the stats are off. any ideas?
    thanks in advance.

spot on BSH man! I ordered the top oven com and yes, on removal the rear most row of contacts were welded together, wow I though and changed it but still the damn resistor was getting hot when off so I looked under the main oven com and that was welded also, mangaged to release it and it seems all is now ok…..but how would 2 sets of contacts become welded for no apparant reason? All elements fine and no reports of blowing trip/ fuses.
