Hi everyone. Been to two Neff double integrated ovens this week both intermittently tripping house electric. They were both about 10 years old.
On both of them it was the fan motor at fault when the motor stalled and didnt turn.
Insulation testing didnt show a fault either. This may be common knowledge to Neff engineers but thought it was worth posting.
Most fan motors when stalled dont have this problem. 🙂

After 10 1/2 years for BSH and 20 years in the trade, I can honestly say I cannot ever remember changing a fan motor for tripping the electrics. I have changed tons for seized motors for fan blades stuck on the fan shaft but not for tripping?

I wonder if it may have been a coincidence.

    Kind regards

Hi Ian. Yes I thought it strange. There was quite a lot of fat around the terminals of the motors on both appliances. I changed the motors due to bearing failure, the one had also recently had a new element fitted. I dont know if they were drawing extra current and then causing an earth leak through the warm fat, but both have been fine since. Hope you havent jinxed me now!
    Thanks for the reply.

we have changed at least 2 this year for tripping the electrics, i think its more to do with the sensitivity of the rcd/mcb these days
