I have a Neff Oven (B1641N2GB/01). The fan oven element failed which I’ve now replaced, but the replacement element isn’t heating. Is there an internal fuse that might have blown when the old element failed?

The background is that the old fan element failed in fairly spectacular fashion; it fractured which caused arcing and put on quite a light display before I got to the power switch. I’ve replaced the element, but the replacement doesn’t get hot at all.

The rest of the oven works fine i.e. the fan spins, the clock works and the top and bottom elements both heat so the oven can be used in grill or non fan mode. I’ve rechecked my fitting of the new element, but since its just a couple of spade terminals and they’re both on tight I’m looking for other ideas. Is there an internal fuse for just the fan element part of the oven that might have blown when the old element was arcing?

    Neff Oven – Internal Fuse?

Yes there is a small fuseable link device (part no. 057895) that may well have fused. It is attached directly to the oven cavity, but can’t recall if it is on the back or the top of it right now. If it has blown it with be open circuit across its terminals of course.

However if it checks out electrically OK then either the oven timer is set on ‘Auto’ or that control unit itself had blown when the element failed so spectacularly.

Re: Neff Oven – Internal Fuse?

Thanks for that Martin. The fix was actually somewhat simpler and more embarrassing 😳

When I replaced the element I did it from inside the oven and just found two spade connectors. This afternoon I removed the oven completely and took off the back panel (electricity supply isolated at fusebox) only to find a third spade terminal lost in the insulation at the back of the oven that had come off during my initial attempt. It’s now connected and the new element is heating up fine.

Thanks for our help, much appreciated.
