ParticipantModel = Neff double oven U1150W0 GB/01
After a power outage I am unable to set the clock again. It showed 0:00 as usual, but when I hold in the usual two buttons & twiddle the timer knob to set the time the display just alternates between 24:00 & 0:01. When I stop trying the arrow is flashing which usually indicates the programme has ended (then you hit the button to return to manual control) I can clear this, but still can’t set the clock or timer. (Have tried power off again to see if this clears it) When I leave it alone, the clock keeps the correct time starting from 0:00, but still can’t set the timer.
It seems to have got itself in a knot, is there any way out of this or is the clock/timer bust? If so is it possible to get replacements?
I’m lost without a timer, I use it most days…..
THANKS 🙂

Just double check with your instruction booklet that you are indeed twiddling the correct 2 buttons? If that is the case and it will not set then the bad news is………………..£160 odd for a new Timer unit plus fitting. 🙁
Going back to the “power outage?” Was this a regular power cut or an electrical storm that brought this about? Either way it may be best you contact your local electricity supplier to get confirmation on that question as they MAY be responsible for the ‘potential damage’ caused to your cooker clock etc? As such you are entitled in asking them at least to look into the matter.

Participantthanks Martin 🙂
Definitely twiddling the right buttons, done it many times 😀
A bulb blew (elsewhere in the house) which tripped the main RCB (usually happens when a bulb goes…) & caused the power outage, so no ones “fault” unfortunately…
Looks like we need to decide between a new timer unit & a new oven…
Is replacing a timer unit something a comptent-with-electrics (and more importantly knows her limitations!) DIYer can tackle? (I have replaced the fan motor on the oven in the past with no problems )

….then from what you tell me changing the timer will be easy for you albeit very costly. 😥

Participantthanks very much for your help Martin, much appreciated 🙂
Will have to have a long chat with DH re new timer vs new oven… (Can’t complain really I guess the oven is 20+ years old & is used most days!)

😆 Had already said that to DH ! 😆 Unfortunately doesn’t fix the lack-of-timer problem…which will result in hungry, moany kids when they have to wait for their tea :rolls: 😆
