ParticipantI have been to look at this dishwasher where the aquastop was just humming and not not letting in any water, i could not find any reason for this so ordered and changed the aquqstop. but it is still the same the drain pump runs but it will not take in water, all the aquqstop does is buzz, i have disconnected all hoses in different order and checked everything i can think of. has anyone got a wiring diagram or an answer to this problem.
Many thanks andyAugust 19, 2010 at 7:36 pm #328318nomadPaul
ParticipantIt’s a bit difficult to explain but IIRC there is an overflow pipe connected between the side chamber on the LHS and the aquastop that is an overflow protection device. If water gets into this hose , it shuts the aquastop down.
The way to check is to disconnect this small hose temporarily and see if the appliance fires up. Its normally a small clear hose at the very front lower edge of the side chamber.
This fault normally occurs when the main fill hose ( larger black hose ) between the side chamber and sump gets blocked and the chamber overfills as the water can’t flow quick enough into the sump.
Hope i’ve explained it so you understand where i’m pointing you towards 🙂

Thanks for your reply. I have taken the small pipe on the bottom front of the tank off and tried it again but it still just buzzes this is the clear pipe that runs along with the fill hose back upto the aquastop. I have tried it with this clear pipe off also with the fill pipe off and with them both off. no matter what pipes i try the aquastop still just buzzes, hope you can help with this. Many thanks Andy

Silly question out of the way first (apologies) but there is a water supply to the aquastop isn’t there? Float microswitches (027380) on these can cause this problem, they go open circuit or the metal lever gets rusty as a rule.

Thanks martin, yes there is water to the aquastop even changed it around with the w/m. There is a microswitch on the flood protection where the aquastop is connected but that is working ok. thanks andy

I refer to the microswitch on the metering tank!

the microswith on the metering tank is ok from what i can work out, when i activate it, it starts the timer advancing, is this correct.

Yes correct! It’s a 2 way switch and fills one way, energises timer the other! 🙂

could this be my problem then because as far as i can see the switch is open circuit until the water level is reached and then goes closed to start the timer or the other way round i cant remember. but there is only 2 wires to it in/out

2 wires? :hmm: Now that’s got me stumped, maybe I’m wrong on that but (from memory anyway?) they usually have 3. But, sadly, I don’t possess a wiring diagram on this model so apologies if I get you barking up the wrong tree as it were. 😳
I’m puzzled also why, when you’ve taken the fill hose that comes directly from the aquastop off, as well as the waterblock hose, fired it up and no water flows in spite of the coil being energised? Very odd!!
Did you fit the aquastop kit (091058) or the complete aquastop and hose unit (119922)? The former needs the wires crimping and existing hoses fitted. If the clear water block tube gets blocked simulating a flood then the valve would just hum anyway. So that could be all the problem is?

Thanks for your input martin. The microswitch only has 2 wires, the wires for the aquastop go to the overflow microswitch and to the wash motor, i have replaced the aquastop complete at a great cost but thought it was best that way, with both the inlet and overflow pipes removed from the tank still no water comes through just a hum. I have installed the aquastop vertical is that correct ?

It should work at any angle, any direction, and to be honest I can only think that the aquastop must be faulty. Especially since the water block hose has been left off to test and that there’s a water supply to the valve and the stop cock has been turned on…so what else can it be?
I’m not surprised to learn the original aquastop failed as that’s a common enough fault considering the m/c’s age. But for a new one to not work is indeed very odd. Hence my original somewhat silly question :”but there is a water supply to the aquastop isn’t there?”
😕 😕 😕

i have now collected this appliance and brought back to workshop, with a definate water supply and the overflow pipe and fill hose disconnected from the tank all that happens is a loud hum. must be a faulty aquastop but its a lot of money to make sure

ParticipantRe: neff S4132W0GB
Being as it’s now in your workshop you could always hook up a regular single valve using the power supply terminals on the machine to confirm whether or not the aquastop is faulty? If it is then instead of replacing it like for like it’s better to just change the aquastop itself (091058) or even far better still the £20 one from Masterpart (Part No: BS71103) 💡

I have now striped this machine down and am pulling my hair out, i have got 240v to the aquastop and the small overflow pipe disconnected and also the main inlet pipe to the tank, but all it does is still just hum. faulty aquastop i think so order another one and fit, but no all it does is just hum. i have taken all the pipes off and cleaned tested every microswitch but cannot get the thing to take in water. can anyone help as i am now overspent and fed up with it
