when you knock m/c on does it pump out first.
check all filters /hoses to sump
what end of country are you in?Hey G, many thanks for you help, much appreciated.
When I turn on the machine first it just makes a gurgling noise but no water goes into the machine.
By the way, I am in located in Kildare.

gurgling is the pump at start of cycle.this is normal.next it should start taking in the water. is there an aquastop on that d/w this would be where you screw on to the water mains ?if not it may be time for an engineer there should be loads to choose from in Kildare .not sure what neff themselves charge but might be best bet as the part may be still under warranty.
good luck and let us know how you get on.
just looked at valve and it is an aqua stop.it might be worth a punt and replace this .May 16, 2009 at 3:47 pm #285203mfield

just looked at valve and it is an aqua stop.it might be worth a punt and replace this .I originally figured that it may be the aquastop valve but after a few replies on here, I wasn’t too confident.
Will I go and order one and replace it and see how we go? There about 60 quid I think.

I didn’t check that, where is it located on the machine?

there should be a 2 core black wire from the aquastop into machine follow this and there should be a connector where it finishes.disconnect it and check resistance.unplug first of course!

So should should I check the resistance before I go ordering any parts Martin or is this a job for the pros? You are right to assume that the valve is at fault, and they do fail so that diagnosis is not beyond the bounds of reason. However, there could be other issues causing the same symptoms including pressure switch, blocked hoses and indeed faulty programmer.
I would always advise contacting a local engineer such as myself who would call, assess the problem and deal with it accordingly subject to your approval. Simply sticking a new valve unit in may well solve your problem but it also may not? It’s a gamble at this stage and no mistake. 😉
Many thanks for the your replies Martin, you could come round and repair it no probs but the thing is I am in Southern Ireland where we get bent over on anything like this and I am sick to the teeth of the rip off culture over here especially with the way things are now. That is the main reason I said I’d give it a go. I’m handy at fixing most thing so that is the reason I am here now.
I even rang Neff about the part you posted earlier and it was more expensive than it is in the UK – typical!
Anywho, enough of the rant 😀
I figured it may be more than just the valve alright. It is making a kind of gurgling noise when turned on and no water is getting into the unit. I might open her up and take a look but the folks want their washer working and they may just have to fork out.
This is my major concern, Theres too many people out there these days that think we are out to rip people off!
Half the time i find its the engineers maybe geting ripped off these days by having to do work as cheap as possible or lose the job.
Im also fed up of having people ring me, go give them a price then say they gonna ring around for a cheaper estimate, If i was a builder making thousands out of each job then fair enough i could deal with losing the odd job but at what white goods engineers charge to do a good fair job and make a living i think its discusting persoally that we get treated like this too.
Please remember, if u have had a bad deal done by a tradesmen there is plenty of others out there that will give you a good job at sensible prices, in other words, DONT give up on the WHITE GOODS TRADESMEN/WOMAN.
And once you find a good one……. Keep their details.May 19, 2009 at 4:50 pm #285210mfield

I have tested the 2 core black wire at the connectors an it’s giving me a reading of 2.4k.

Lads, got an engineer out this morning and it turns out that the problem was the part where the sensors are, were all blocked, and as a result were not working properly.
He replaced the unit and all for a good deal too! I have also kept his number for future reference – as advised.
So all well that ends well! Many thanks for all your help lads 😀
