This dishwasher was tripping the rcd. Found a little water in base at bottom of heat/pump but not enough to activate anti flood and heater was shorting to earth. I ran it to check for leaks but couldn’t see any so thought it was coming from heat/pump seal so replaced the heat/pump.
Three days later I got called back saying it was tripping rcd again. When I checked the heater was short to earth not even low insulation. Again there was a little water around the base of heater/pump but not much. Now did the original heater develop an insulation fault because of the water and now it’s caused the same to the new one? There’s no water dripping on heater just a little underneath. This is a plastic base machine but no crusty bit around the joins indicating a leak. I’ve heard about a sump seal repair kit but are these for the steel base ones?Any help please?
Thanks

Heater coming on without water through the circulating pump (i.e. Faulty module heater relay?) maybe?

They can and do leak around the sump…if the heater isn’t o/c you might be able to salvage it with a hair dryer.
I suspect the sump warps a bit allowing it to leak…there is a repair kit which includes a new seal…
They do leak in other places like the metering tank/tub seal and the hard water port/tub seal although the latter is normally just the port fitting unscrewing slightly .
Every other one I come across with a leak the heater develops an earth fault!

Hi, thanks for your help. I’ve managed to dry out the heater and it’s giving a good insulation reading now.
Do you have a part number for the seal repair kit or is it just the sump seal? Thanks

I think you just order a new sump…comes with a new seal…

Sump is 00702508 and you’ll also need the cover 00652523
Costly fix so be sure first that that’s where it’s leaking I would. 😉
