I’ve a Neff S51E50X1GB built in dishwasher that isn’t working properly.
It’s about 5 years old and has always had an occasional problem with the “check water” light coming on. Restarting the cycle several times usually gets the wash to complete.
It has now become a permanent issue and I cannot get the machine to complete its cycle.
The water inlet pipe is fine – the machine fills without a problem. No kinks.
The draining mechanism seems to be working fine – currently it is directed into a bucket and I can see plenty of water draining out. I’m pretty sure there’s no blockage there as water is being ejected, also if I blow gently down the outlet pipe, I can see bubbles emerge from the dishwasher’s drain at the bottom of the cavity.
Mid cycle – not necessarily at any specific point – the audible alarm sounds and the machine stops. Opening the door shows that the “check water” light is on.
Because the machine is emptying into a bucket, I can see that the alarm sounds at the same time as the machine is draining water.
I’d be grateful for any help/advice. I’m reasonably competent and happy to replace parts as necessary.

the machine will drain as soon as a fault it detected

what we need to figure out is what was it doing 10 secs before the fault indication happened

    Thanks for the rapid reply.

The machine just seems to be happily performing its cycle, then there are three pumps of water ejected and the alarm goes off during the third.

This seems to be at varying times during the cycle as sometimes it happens withing minutes of starting and sometimes after an hour or so of working.

Is there anything you recommend I look/listen out for in order to help?

    Cheers

still could be a fill fault if it does it while its taking on water

the machine fills 2 or 3 times during a cycle so you need to find out if thats what its doing when it fails

also the check water light has 2 functions.. if its flashing it means one thing, if its not it means another. look in the manual for which is which. one means water problem the other means any other fault

    Thanks.
The water light is solid – no flashing.
The alert happens when the machine is trying to empty. I’ve taken it out of the cabinet and can see the water matrix. The flow meter spins freely when it is taking in water. When the machine is trying to empty I can see the waste water level rising up the matrix, also passing around the U bend to the waste pipe. It is during this activity that the alarm occurs. The waste pipe isn’t blocked and flows freely.
    Cheers.

if your sure its a drain fault then the use the current going to the pump to sense when its empty. if the pump is badly worn or something is wrapped around it then the pump works harder. the increase in current fools the board into thinking its still full

this fault can also be a faulty board

    Hi
The drain pump rotates freely and on the occasional time that the machine ejects water, it is quite a powerful pulse of water.

    Cheers
