ParticipantHi All
Neff S51L58X0GB/45
FD: 9610
Z-Nr: 00602Our Neff dishwasher is roughly 4.5 years old and has been fault-free until recently when it completely died towards the end of a cycle. No power/no display. Nothing at all. After testing the socket and cable and finding no fault, I took a look inside the machine and found that there was a scorched track and burnt out component on the main power board.
Ordered a replacement direct from Neff ( Power module programmed – 12013788 ) and after waiting over a month for stock it arrived today.
Fitted the new board and the machine now has power, but the display just shows the Tap and Rinse Aid lights with them both flashing together about twice a second. These flash about 15 times then the display goes blank. No error codes or anything else displayed at all. Pressing the power button on the unit starts the flashing sequence of the tap and rinse aid lights again. I cant hear any clicks or noises from within the machine.
I have checked that the water supply is on and flowing, and there is no sign of water leaks inside the machine.
I am now worried that the blown power board could have damaged other components within the machine and could be looking at a complete replacement rather than a few components.
Any advice where to look next would be much appreciated. More than happy to probe inside with a multimeter if I know what to test next.
Cheers

Moderatorwhen you find burnt out tracks you have to find out why
it can mean another component has failed and the board is a casualty
would be interested to see pics of the old board damage

Moderatoryou need to trace any wire that connect here and find out what they control

ParticipantHi Dave
Many thanks for the reply
Traced those wires and they are the thin grey control wires than run to the heater pump. Checked out the pump and it fails a continuity test so that looks to have died. Also noticed some evidence of heat around the mains wires connector to the element, is this to be expected?
Will order a new heater pump from Neff and see how I get on
Thanks again for the advice, much appreciated!

Moderatorhopefully is spatter from when the heater exploded
check the state of the plug on the board where its blown
then check the themistors arrowed on the blown heater. they should have the same value so you can chack one against the other. Am expecting something in the thousands of ohms

Thermistors are coming out at 8500 ohms. Although top one came away from tracks when i was removing the glue. Right hand lower one stayed firm.
“check the state of the plug on the board where its blown” – Apart from some scorching the plug looks fine, new board looks fine too. Is that what you meant?

Moderatoryes was assuming the board plug was just brown because it blew up not because it got hot
i meant you to check resistance reading of thermistors from the plug. what i am hoping is if these were open circuit it would stop the unit starting. if you can find a way of reconnecting the thermistor so the read from the plug then re connect all wires to the motor except the heater wire, then it should run a programme but not heat
now here is the crunch
do you want to try fitting a new motor in the hope it cures it

ParticipantHi Dave
Unfortunately, my soldering wasn’t delicate enough to get the thermistor back on, and since the element was dead I thought I would have to replace the heater pump anyway.
New one arrived today. Fitted in easy… and I still have exactly the same problem! Water/Rinse aid lights constantly flashing as soon as power applied to machine. Doesn’t respond to any button presses from control panel at all.
Next step was to pull the control board. Looks like whatever surged through my unit could have taken something out on there too.

Anything repairable on there or does that look like a whole replacement too?
Many Thanks

Moderatoram sure your wondering if you should have scrapped it by now

ParticipantHi Dave.
Yeah, that thought had crossed my mind a few times. I’m in this too far to give up now, and I’m learning all the way too so not all bad!
The saga continues… New control board arrived today. Fitted straight in and on power up gives a healthy beep and the 3:30 display. However, after flashing 3:30 for 5 times I then get an e06 error code displayed. Bit of googling suggests door sensor issue, but before I order one I just wanted to understand why the dishwasher would be checking that even with the door open?
If I ever get this dishwasher working again it’s gonna be like “triggers broom” and be made up of all new bits!
Cheers

Moderatordoor sw is magnetically operated
dont knoow if its reed sw or a hall detector. it may have blown if too much current hit it
