ParticipantHi all. My integrated Neff dishwasher is misbehaving after many years of loyal service.
The wash cycle starts but the water stays cold and the cycle never finishes. The machine appears to fill OK (it’s fed from cold only) and the spray arms look to be spinning. Yesterday I interrupted a wash cycle after an hour (usually finishes in 35-40mins), held the reset buttons and closed the door and the machine drained properly after a couple of minutes.
I’m looking for advice on diagnosing the fault. TIA

It’s almost certainly going to the be the heater unit.
Sit down, deep breath, then click the link…

Thanks for the link – that’s pretty much what I was expecting.
Given that the machine’s probably 10 years old I’m thinking about just replacing it.

I’ve done some disassembling and got the control board out. There’s definite signs of shorting/scorching on one of the solder joints: looks like it’s the K1 relay.
The relay is reading 100 Ohms across the input terminals so it looks as though the coil is OK. Is it safe to clean the joint with IPA and resolder it, and try the machine again?

Not sure beer is a good choice of cleaning the relay pin. I usually scrape clear the soot off the pin and the PCB then a nice dob of solder and job done? 🙂

Many thanks, Martin. I cleaned and resoldered it (decided to use isopropyl alcohol instead of pale ale in the end ), and 10 mins into a test cycle we have warm water
I’ll try it a with a full load of dishes this evening.

All good with a full load of dishes last night: everything clean and dry and the cycle ended after 35 mins.
Many thanks for your help guys.
