    Hi,
I have a Neff S54M45x5GB/01 dishwasher that hasn’t been cleaning things properly for a while now. One of the symptoms is that the detergent capsule doesn’t always dissolve fully so I’ve checked the spray bars for blockages to no avail.

However I am now starting to think I know the reason why it’s not working properly is because it is not filling with water to the correct level hence there is insufficient water from the spray bars and if the water level is low it is not heating either.

To support my theory I’ve started the machine, let it run through its initial drain cycle, then I’ve tipped a couple of saucepans of water into the bottom and set it running.

Over the course of this trail run it has heated normally, the spray bars have been turning normally and the detergent capsule has dissolved thus it has cleaned my dishes as it should.

So, why is it not filling? I guess it is related the Aquastop pressure chamber however I do not know exactly what it does or how it works.

If it is likely to be related to the Aquastop pressure chamber could someone please explain how it works?

I know to replace it they are ‘only’ £25 but I’d like to know how it works in case it is actually working fine but something is preventing it from doing its thing. If it is likely to be something else stopping it filling correctly, what?

Update – it didn’t seem to finish the test run. It showed 1 minute on the timer for over 10 minutes. In all that time the drain pump was running with ‘some’ water in the sump. I’ll pull it out tomorrow and take a look down the sides of the unit.

Power off, left hand side panel off, you will see gunged up matrix, remove and clean.

Thanks Martin, I whipped off the side panel and took off what I believe is called an Aquastop pressure chamber. The pressure chamber was gunged up but so too was the pipe between the pressure chamber and the pump. I’ve cleaned them both and initial tests showed it’s fixed. Woo Hoo.

    Thanks
