Problem is that the heater pressure switch is not closing. The pump motor sounds ok but when the door is opened mid cycle the residual amount of spray seems less than I’m generally used to. Also during a cycle there seems to be less of a whooshing noise than I’d expect. I’m wondering whether the pump motor is failing or could it be due to low water level? The water level is certainly above the filter screen so I doubt the pump is being starved of water. Any thoughts?

sounds like a fouled impeller in the wash pump.
    worth a look,

    Hi Clive,

Thanks for your input. My experience of dishwasher motors is that they work properly, not at all or very poorly, but if very poorly there is usually a distinct difference in the sound they make. What really has me wondering about this one is that the motor isn’t the usual Bosch style thing with a capacitor mounted on its side. I was wondering if there was something fundamentally different in its operation.

Did you check to see if the water point diverter valve is stuck in the closed position?

The water, when full , should reach just above the bottom of the salt pot lid. If the levels are correct , I’d next be looking at a blockage in the wash motor/sump connection. Have a feel around down the channel at approx the 2 o’clock position in the sump. You may find that there is an obstruction there.

i would agree with faulty diverter valve.

    Hi Martin,

Is this the water switch disc in the flow control assy mounted under the heater? Is it possible to check without removing the rinsing tank?

Also, there is water flow from both spray arms so if this were a flow control issue would this imply that the diverter valve (disc) is only partially closed?

If you remove the 2 torx screws that attach top spray pipe to sump you can see the cam. If that is all clear then chances are the impeller is clogged with detritus. I use a torch and dentist mirror to peek inside the circl pump from the sump. Then use a hooked wire to poke out any rubbish from the impellor.

    Hi Martin,

Thanks v much for the info – I’ve now added two dental mirrors (£1.95 from Ebay) to my arsenal. Removed a shred of freezer bag from pump, via sump, and all’s well. Thanks also to all other contributors to this post.
