ParticipantDishwasher started making a funny noise yesterday. The dishes in the bottom were not clean. I checked and the filter had broken. Is this the cause of the machine not working properly? and if so what part do I require to order?
Thank you

We don’t quite understand what you mean about the broken filter? But often the secondary cylindrical fine mesh filter falls apart and bits can get jammed in the motor. Is that to what you refer?

Yes sorry it was the fine mesh that had come apart.

Ooops! Then it could be that the plastic/synthetic ring that holds it together has come adrift and gone into the main circulating pump? Or can you account for that bit coming off?

Yeah oops to be honest the the rings and plastic join have started to disintegrate. I pretty much think I have accounted for all the bits unless its pretty much a small bit. Sorry I am not in the least technically minded, but will the dishwasher work without the filter? I just turned it on to check and it is filling up with water (ie. the bottom) but no water is comimg out of the spray arms. I know I will have to get a new filter but I am just wondering if I would be better to get someone out to look at it or if I replace the filter that will be the answer?!!!!

Sadly no it won’t and I’m thinking the filter issue is NOT your problem here. In fact your dishwasher will work perfectly fine without it so you should bin that fine mesh anyway. The reason the bottom spray is not working and the top spray is is that chances are the water point diverter has failed. It forms part of the heater unit and will need replacing to resolve I reckon.
Throw that fine mesh in the bin then try it again. The diverter valve alternates the water flow between the top and bottom spray arm every 60 seconds. I reckon during the wash process in your case that that isn’t happening?
Let me know.
