    Hi all,

I’m having a dilemma and need some advice.

My Neff S5943X2GB/39 dishwasher has died after about 12 years faithful use. I had a local repair guy out who said that it’s the control module that’s gone – and he did show me the burned looking bit on the casing and you can see the black line from the solder on the module along the wee lines (sorry for the lack of technical words lol)

He said that yes, I could replace the control module, but to blow the module, it was usually something else that had gone and caused it to blow. My brother reckons dishwashers are pretty much indestructable (he worked with industrial equipment) and to repair it.

I’m terrible at decisions and I don’t know whether to try and repair the Made in Germany Neff or buy a new one and it not lastin 5 minutes because it’s come from some far flung factory where they’re just chucked together with crap parts.

If I do go for a new one, the repair man said to go with Beko (though nobody else does)

So, I’ve narrowed by search down to

    https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-jlbidw917-integrated-slimline-dishwasher/p3334265

    https://www.johnlewis.com/bosch-spv25cx00g-fully-integrated-slimline-dishwasher/p3583367

    https://ao.com/product/dis16r10-beko-slimline-dishwasher-silver-58677-24.aspx

Unless anyone can suggest something better in that price range?

Thank you in advance for advice (and I hope I’ve posted in the right part of the forum)

    Hi

From your three choices I would go as the order they are in 🙂 others may have there own opinion 😉

The John Lewis product which will have been produced the the Zanussi / AEG group will have a good build quality and a two year warranty as well. Meanwhile the Bosch which still has a good name in the marketplace does tend to trade on it’s name that said the machines do still perform well albeit the spares are a higher price. Lastly the Beko while it is a reasonable product with spares which are cheaper than the norm the product isn’t as well made as the other two.

It’s obvious your brother worked on commercial machines. If he had seen as many domestic appliances including dishwashers as we have he would realise the word ‘indestructible’ is a million miles from the truth.:(

Thank you. It’s a bit of a minefield buying appliances nowadays I think because what you would imagine to be a good brand from old isn’t as you think it is. Advice is hugely appreciated.

I think my brother forgets the differences between commercial and domestic lol. He’s telling me that they’re repairing equipment that’s 30 years old and is still repairable.
