ParticipantI have the U1421 double oven – the lower oven works fine (apart from the door not fully closing – but I know I need some new hinges to sort this).
The top – half oven, does not heat. When I move the selector to either grill or oven – the interior oven light comes on – but the red temp light on the control panel does not. As I move the temp selector – there is no heat, and again the red temp light does not come on. There is no heat in the oven.
I am assuming that the element has gone – and I know that if this is what it is, it’s not too bad a job to replace – but from the symptoms described – is this the fault?, or should I be checking something else?
Any help – VERY much appreciated.

Strange there is no red light. No supply to element then. Element could have blown and taken out stat or switch. Repairs@ for a diagnosis i think.
Power off if you are looking yourself.Regards

Thanks alot for the reply – but what do you mean “repairs @ for a diagnosis”?
Do you mean – take it to a specialist for repair? Do you also mean, that if it were as simple as a new element, that the red light would still continue to come on – even though there is no heat?
Thanks everso for your help.

Hi
The red light would still come on regardless of the element having blown, unless the element blew with significant force and damaged some other component like Simon said.
Can you provide the full model number, usually from around the door opening on a silver plate.Greg

Thanks for both of your replies.
Would you believe – the oven is now working again. I don’t know what happened, but it would not do anything last night at all! The red light comes on, and both the oven and grill in the smaller top oven appear to work perfectly.
I can only deduce that it works like our old AEG oven insofar that the oven needs to be set to manual to use it – the problem is that we bought the oven secondhand – and don’t how to set it to either timed or manual – so clearly have pressed the right button inadvertently to get it working again!
The other thing I do need is some new door hinges for the lower main oven door. How much for a set please? The door does shut – but not as tightly as it should, or the top oven door.
E-nr – U1421NOGB/01
FD – 8010Thanks alot.

Hi
Clock as to be set and set to manual (hand symbol) for the top fan oven to operate and will not effect the lower oven.I take it you mean lower/bottom non fan assisted oven hinges? If that is the case then these will sort you 😀
Left hinge 263258
Right hinge 263260These are available from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk.

Thanks again for the reply – however;
1 – The clock was set. I don’t know how to turn in it in manual “hand” mode – the top oven is working again – but there is no hand on the display – and no hand on any of the buttons around the clock area – I can email you some pics if it helps to identify which ones!
2 – The lower oven IS fan assisted – so have you quoted me the parts for the right oven?
THanks alot
Richard

Hi
Correct parts for bottom oven.
This cavity has a cooling fan as does the main oven. These fans are merely to expel the heat of the ovens when in operation via the vents above each oven door.
The main oven or circotherm oven (top cavity), has an internal cooking heat distribution fan aswell as the cooling fan, situated inside the cavity at the rear; unlike the bottom conventional oven (non circotherm).Greg
