ParticipantI have a Neff U1421N2GB which recently blew the house fuse, I changed the element as it had high resistance, now the oven only heats up to about 180deg before the element switches off, the thermostat red light stays on so its not the thermostat switching it off, any ideas please

The fan oven selector switch will have burnt/blackened contacts. Replace that selector switch.

I have had a look at the switch and none of the terminals are black, they all look fine, is there anyway I can test it or will it just be a case of trying a new one

Not the terminals but the switch contacts under the rotary cam. If those copper contacts look black a new selector switch should be fitted.
Incidentally it is not unknown for a new element to be faulty. But the only way to be sure is to check its continuity after the point it stops heating. (Not something to be recommended as it involves having the oven on a test bench and then fully isolated from the power supply before checking :zap: )

Ok so I went for the element as I only paid £5.68 for it, and it was still the same, so I replaced the switch as you suggested, this hasn’t fixed it either, however the defect has changed so i imagine it was also faulty. I still have the same problem with the demand light staying on while the element cuts out (stops glowing red), however now the oven is actually getting hot. I don’t have a thermometer but i reckon it is actually getting up to temperature as it is a lot hotter than it was before, maybe it is being cut out by an overheat switch when it should be cut off by the demanded temperature
