Neff U1461 double oven – no display, fan, lights or heat!

Hi

I have a Neff U1461 double oven. Both ovens are not heating and fan is not running in the botton oven when the control is operated. The interior light on both ovens are not working when either oven is operated.

The timer display is blank, and the only sign of life in the bottom oven is the temperature symbol illuminates when the bottom oven controls are operated. The thermometer symbol above the top oven controls illuminates when the oven is at ‘0’ and temperature is off. The light goes out when the mains is switched off, so I assume that it is getting power.

I would like to know if this is likely to be economic to repair – I am assuming that this is something other than an element failure (controller PCB?) as it is affecting both ovens.

Any ideas gratefully recieved.

There are a fair number of Neff U1461 variants so the exact and complete model number (shown on the rating plate around the oven cavity) is essential to be specific. However, from what you say already it does appear that the main Timer/Control Unit may be at fault and thus a costly fix no doubt.

Thank you for your reply. I was also assuming that the timer or control module might have faulted. Would you be able to give me an idea of the price for the part? – I am prepared for some bad news here :). To be honest, i am unlikely to attempt a repair myself, but an idea of the price of the bits will allow me to evaluate any quotes.

The model information is as follows: U1461W0GB/01 FD 8007 B-AP54-8 5750313026 (presume the first bit of info is what is needed).

Well the actual timer/clock costs around £170.00. But the clock (IIRC?) only controls the main oven so the fault may be elsewhere if the bottom oven doesn’t work? So the problem may be a power supply problem, therefore I suggest you contact a local engineer to check it out for you.

Thank you for the advice.

I have just had a visit from an engineer, who diagnosed the fault to be with the clock module (by process of elimination).

I think that I will obtain this and fit it and cross my fingers. I don’t mind getting my hands dirty, but balked at the parts mark-up… happy to pay for labour if they would do it with parts supplied by me. If they are agreeable I will probably do this.
