ParticipantI have successfully installed a number of replacement half moon elements in the main oven over recent years and have experienced no problems until now. The existing element blew a few days ago. I stripped out the rear panel, removed the fan so as to access the top screw and removed the blown element, which had blown right through the element tubing in two places. I disconnected the two electrical connectors and fitted a replacement copy part element (from same supplier as the failed element which had lasted just over two years). Refitted everything and tested the oven. Fan working fine, oven light on but element not getting hot??? Took everything apart again and, with the element hanging by the connecting wires and oven switched on, I put an electrical test screwdriver carefully onto each connector terminal to check for a 240 volt live source. Nothing found (no neon in screwdriver) from either element connection. I assume a 240 volt live feed should be going to one of the connectors, but could not get the neon lamp to light in my test screwdriver. I assume therefore that as the fan and oven light are working correctly, that the fault is somewhere else, possibly as a result of the element shorting when it blew. Any advice or guidance as to a likely cause and what else likely needs to be replaced would be very much appreciated. Thank you

Thanks for quick reply. I will order a new TOC and fit to see if this solves the problem.

Fitted new TOC and oven now heating, but heat not cutting out. I assume thermostat now needs replacing also.
