    Hi,

After a loose piece of foil was sucked onto the fan cover in my oven the fan started making a catching noise and eventually stopped. I’ve taken the fan out, cleaned it and put it back and it works ok – but keeps catching the oven body!

Anybody any idea on why this might be? Could a bush in the motor have gone? it doesn’t look like the fan is buckled but there is some play in the axle of the fan motor.

Seems a shame to have to fork out for a new motor as it is still working!

    Thanks

    Paul

if the noise wasnt there before you took it apart, then it is something that hasnt gone back right backtrack on what you have done.

Thanks smartin, unfortunately the noise was there since the foil got caught. The fan had stuck until I took the cover off and took it out to clean it. Now its back on – it’s much freer but as soon as i tighten up the nut it starts to catch.

certainly seems an odd problem. The only thing I can think of is a bush in the motor has worn away leaving too much play in the axle.
