Neff U1721 Fan element keeps blowing

Hi, after about 10 years of solid use, my Neff U1721 fan element failed,no problem I thought so I replaced the said item. However now on it’s 4th replacement in about 3 years, I wondering if there is a particular reason why this might be happening so frequently, normally the elements have completely failed, except the previous element would heat to about 150C, but anything more and the main fuse would trip.
Any ideas?

Check the fan motor. Not enough air over it and that’ll happen.

Thanks, must admit it’s probably a bit louder, not sure I’d know if it was running slower though. might be worth a new motor then perhaps?

you said you replaced the element did not say where you got the spares from
have had a lot of problems with non genuine spares being poor quality and a short life span
yours is the semi circle element had a non gen failed while i watched it never fitted non gen since

gen element number 464643

The first time is went, I bought a genuine Neff part, but that only lasted about 12 moinths, so usually I’ve been forced to buy OEM ones locally, with varying success.

I think we are talking those dreaded ‘half moon’ fan elements here Dave where the genuine replacement part number is 360604. In my experience both genuine and pattern half moon elements are equally as unreliable. I would therefore advise the OP to stick to buying the cheaper pattern equivalents and replace them as and when they next blow. I’ve had genuine elements go belly up inside 15 mins and as they are so so expensive it can make a grown man cry when that happens…..pass the tissues.:(

That’s interesting about the genuine and copied elements being equally unreliable, and yes it’s the dreaded half moon element, probably dreaded because of the pain involved in removing the fan to get at the the top screw. What idiot designed that!

hi guy. I have had exactly the same problem with my Neff U1721, last time, at Christmas (christmas day in fact) the eliment blew. It was a genuine part and the suppliers have replaced it. but as this is the fourth or fifth time it has gone. Noe with the dreaded semi circular eliment, I could not remove the fan so cut the top bracket off. Was this a mistake ????
BUT now I have a new eliment “how do I remove the fan” is this easy.

Pretty easy to remove once you realise the nut has a left hand thread.
