😕 Can you help? I have a Neff u1744N0GB/01 and the cooling fan comes on as soon as you turn on the power to the oven at the cooker switch on the wall. Even when the oven is cool, and before you’ve even used it the fan comes on and stays on until you turn off the main switch on the wall again……….
I’m electrically minded so could tackle it myself if only someone could tell me where to begin……….
    Hope you can help, Jammin’

First of all – Power Off. :plug:
Remove the oven from the housing and take the top and back panel off. At the back of the oven there should be a long cylindrical fan with a small motor at one end. This is your cabinet cooling fan. Now trace the wiring from the fan. One wire will be a common neutral (connected to an element and when the wiring loop is followed, eventually goes back to the contact block where the supply comes in and connected to “N”).
The other wire will go to a small thermostat with 2 connections. With the wiring disconnected, check for continuity between the terminals. This should test open circuit when cold if it’s OK. Closed circuit means it has stuck in the “on” position.
This stat is the probable culprit. Full model number and serial number to Shop@ and Dave will find you the right part.

Remember, Power Off before any inspection. :plug:

Im positive that this is fully electronically controlled from the main module and not as you would expect, a stat 😕

I’m not sure that the above post is entirely correct. Certainly, the older mechanical thermostat oven used a fan control set-up as Aqua has described, but this one is a fully digital cooker, utilising probes and a PCB to control temperature. I think the cooling fans are switched by the PCB interpreting the oven temperature and switching accordingly. I would suspect that there is a problem with the PCB – stuck/failed relay for instance, or component in that group of circuitry.

    Thanks Guys,
Sorry for the delayed response but I had a sneaky break to the snow…!!! 😀
The cut out stat does appear to be closed circuit, so I will try one of those first before shelling out for a PCB. (It’s a biggy and looks expensive!!!)
I’ll let you know how I get on.
    Thanks, Jammin’.

Sounds like the correct option 😉
    Power off before replacing :plug:
