ParticipantHi my Neff W5320X0GB fills and drains without a problem but the drum will not spin during the spin/rinse cycle. Any help diagnosing the problem will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

ParticipantThanks for the quick reply Dave. I’ve just taken another look and I can now see that there is power to the machine, but it doesn’t fill with water nor does the drum rotate at all! What do you think I should do please?

ParticipantYes. And when you turn the machine off the door unlocks after a short delay.

ParticipantHi Dave. Tried that and nothing happened – the drum didn’t move after 5 minutes.

Moderatorok check motor brushes
does not normally happen on Bosch type machines but on some machines if brushes go machine wont runalso try disconnecting both heater wires and see if anything changes

ParticipantHi Dave thanks for the advice. I’m struggling to move the machine out of its built-in position so I’m just going to have to call a person I know who should be able to help. You’ve been very kind with your advice today. Thanks again.

ParticipantIF the brushes are worn out there are two types it could originally have been fitted with: the usual 00154740 (or just 154740) genuine are £23.72 a pair. OR could be fitted with a Seimens motor which uses 00173028 (173028) but those are £68.03 as read off Neff`s own website which is depressing since the trade price is about 35 quid plus vat a pair.
The 154740 ones can be got as pattern parts and they will vary from 3 to 4 quid a pair off ebay….my advise is do not buy those. And another commonly see pattern pair at roughly 7 to 10 quid which are better than the 3-4 quid ones but given it is an expensive machine I would only go for the genuine ones and there is a technical reason why. With the 173028 type, which you could well have fitted, I do not think there is any other option but those as genuine parts. These are white plastic screw on cartridged brushes and all will have a R raise moulded letter on them.
IF it is brushes I would insist on the genuine parts. I`ve told you how much they are via Neff website so you know how much you should expect them to be. Best of luck.September 24, 2023 at 4:37 pm #487764Paul0729
ParticipantIssue resolved. The door seal was leaking and water collecting at the bottom of the machine was tripping the flood-prevention cut-off switch. I replaced the seal and the machine works perfectly now.

ParticipantA damn leak. Great U sussed it. You might want to copy and paste the bit about brushes though and print it off for the future.
