    The above machine was reported as dead.

    On testing I have found the PCB blown. The chip and track beneath the capacitor to the right and the resistor to the left have gone.

    I motor and valves test out OK. The drain pump is reading 185? across the windings.

    The only other thing I can think of is the interlock but there are no signs of heat or damage and it’s not short circuit.

    Does anyone have any ideas on what could have caused this to blow?

    Have you tried tracing the damaged track / chip / resistor tracks back to a connector, then seeing what component goes to that connector?

    What about heater area?

    There wasn’t any fault with the heater, this checked out OK.

    The photo shows the nearest connect being that 7 way block, so whatever that goes to has to be suspect. The burnt resistor and blown chip would indicate a polarity clash rather than an earth leak. 😕
