ParticipantDear all,
Called to a Neff S5943X0GB/08 slimline dishwasher. The wash pump is running slow. Is this likely to be faulty pump or faulty PCB?
Any help would be appreciated.Regards

Not sure what you mean by that Geoff? If the washpump were to run slow then chances are it would burn out pretty quick and certainly not circulate any water about. Does the rotor turn easily by hand? Capacitor OK?
Certainly not symptomatic of a PCB fault I wouldn’t think? 😕

Thanks for your reply Martin.
Wash pump rotor turns easily and starts turning as soon as powered up. Hence assume capacitor ok. Can hear from lack of noise and see with side panel off that pump doesn’t reach full speed, thus not activating heater and very weak wash action.
Must admit haven’t tried replacement capacitor. Do you think I should?
Thanks

I would stuff in a new 5mf and see what gives to be honest? 😕
I’ve never heard of such a fault before so anything like this is worth a shot. 😀

ParticipantSounds like something could be in the impellor of the wash motor – i’d be checking for bits of plastic/clingfilm in the motor

ParticipantCould it be a blockage in the transfer tube only allowing a very small amount of water to fill so it appears that there is weak motor action.
I have seen the wash pump run with no water inside when the tube / pressure system are totaly blocked. Just a thought.January 24, 2009 at 7:28 pm #275057franz

Used to get a lot of Indesits doing this – wash blades going around very slowly – was always the motor
