ParticipantNeff (13 years old) tripped thermostat on drying – reset thermostat, still not drying. Replaced thermostat, still does not work, so cannot be thermostat! What next? Symptoms – dryer provides heat (excessive?) for, say, half an hour after thermostat reset/replaced, but thermostat then trips with result that washing still wet and cold. Everything else fine – washing, spinning etc.

ParticipantShould have added that it is E No V4280G1GB/01 and model No GD5062.11, if they help.

Hi peter
I would suspect a lint blockage in the dryer manifold and only a strip down of that will confirm. Have you checked the heater is intact and that the dryer fan is turning correctly also?
I take it it was the re-settable thermostat you changed and not the sensor on the opposite side??
Un-plug appliance if investigating further :plug:Regards

ParticipantGreg – many thanks.
The replaced item was Part No 032604 “limiter-temperature” which has a red reset button – unfortunately made no difference.
The dryer fan appears to be working OK and the heater looks intact.
I will try stripping down the dryer manifold (first disconnecting the power!) and remove any blockage – if I have any difficulty with this I will get an Engineer to do it.
Regards
Peter

It may look ok but a test with a multimeter will confirm.
Off the top of my head I would expect a reading anywhere from 20-30 ohmsGreg

Greg
Beginning to look complex for a layman. Definitely worth an Engineer to look at it.

ParticipantFault found – blockage of duct providing air to fan. Now washer and dryer both working as normal – many thanks.
