ParticipantAs a fairly new agent for NESN (without contract), you may be interested to read the details of my meeting with Maria Whelan (Head of network and opeartions) yesterday. Please respect the confidentiality of the information, she is returning mob handed tommorow with some answers to my questions, I will of course divulge the outcome. 😀
NESN are on stop with my company, and yesterdays meeting was to try and sort out the problems and get us working again.
Maria asked if I was working for MFI, I confirmed I am and asked if this was a problem? No, as I have not signed a contract.
With that out of the way, I agreed to listen further! Maria explained that the lack of confidence with NESN was a Northern problem and all the Southern agents were quite happy 😀 !
I asked about the payments problems, and she informed me that NESN had approached the bank to increase its overdfaft and all future payments would be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}!
I asked her about the missing 12k from my last payment and who gave them permission to contra 12k and pay my connections bill!
She appologised and explained that J.T had been on holiday and it should not have occured! I was not on my own, apparently another 10 agents also took a hit 😥Maria went into great detail about problems in the call centre, and how the coverplan work had really f****d them up. She has the task of sorting the call centre out and getting it back on track. Apparently they have more work than they know what to do with ❓
When asked if I would take them off stop, I replied that I would on the proviso that I could select the postcodes and type of work I wanted, ie not coverplan! She agreed in principal and said she would talk to J.T and would come back on Friday with some answers.
Let me have your views about the above, and give me some questions to take to the meeting tomorrow.
She was very interested about the Whitegoods site and DASA link and was really pushing for info, I told her a lot was happening and a new network was being formed, she said NESN was not worried as we cant possibly offer the services that they do! and as such, did not see it as a threat 😉

ParticipantI had a very similar conversation.
Took most of what she said with a pinch of salt.

That’s it Phil, they’re coming back with the heavy mob to sort you out! 😉
appboy wrote:NESN are on stop with my company, and yesterdays meeting was to try and sort out the problems and get us working again.
Hmmm, I wonder why that is now? Would it be perhaps that they can’t get anyone else to do the work as no-one else wants to know about it?
appboy wrote:Maria asked if I was working for MFI, I confirmed I am and asked if this was a problem? No, as I have not signed a contract.
Adn if you had signed a contract what difference would it have made given the above? I smell bullshit!

Oh yes, the South’s just peachy! 😆
The fact that they have no cover in Devon or stretches of the home counties is a figment of everyone’s imagination!

I also had this out with MFI, apparently NESN have no authority to contra the accounts without your explicit consent, the fact that they have done it in the past to me, you and others leads me to believe that they’re worse than I thought.
appboy wrote: Apparently they have more work than they know what to do with ❓
Read: they have more work than they can cope with, hence the farming out of all the admin to a third party. Said third party also wants a cut of the pie, still less for the people that actually do the work.

I know they’re interested and I’d lay odds that they’re shit scared of it as well.
As for not offering the services that they do, just what services is that? Buggering about with the figures to make them look good or the ability to piss off as many people as possible?

I’ve had them on stop since 1/9, currently we are ‘suspended’ from recieving any new calls which means we will still get the advance balance paid, untill I end the contract or they terminate us.
appboy wrote:Maria asked if I was working for MFI, I confirmed I am and asked if this was a problem? No, as I have not signed a contract.
We aren’t doing the MFI work, but that is irrellevent, if one of NESN’s customers approaches me directly I will take the work (at the right rate), if they throw up the contract crap, I will subtly point out that they are in breach for irregular payments. Cut’s both ways I’m afraid.
appboy wrote:With that out of the way, I agreed to listen further! Maria explained that the lack of confidence with NESN was a Northern problem and all the Southern agents were quite happy 😀 !.
Utter shite, how much further South is there from here, give her my phone number (I’m not joking) if she chucks that crap up again.

Nic Cooper has made me the same promise, BTW it’s the Royal Bank of Scotland who are restricting NESN’s payments, according to our uninformed Mr Cooper anyway.

Then they should ask JT to resign, insurance salesman selling a contract they have no idea how to manage or finance, what a f….kin joke.

ATEOTD it’s your choice how to run your business as you wish, NESN or anyone else for that matter can’t dictate which areas you work in, they might at the moment offer you a set rate, then it’s up to you whether you accept that or not, by doing so, you are in principal agreeing to accept any conditions they may impose. I personally wouldn’t agree to anything without an agreement (contract) being signed by both parties to that effect, on your terms of course 😉

JT told me a similar thing after threatening me with legalities over some supposed comments I had made. 👿
They wouldn’t be the slightest bit interested if they didn’t see it as a threat, anyway Joanne Loach is a registered member, but as yet hasn’t asked to access the trade forums, if she did, she would see there is very little in there to concern them. At the moment anyway. 😯Dave.

Keymasternesn.
Be extremely careful as they will have to cope Network-Dasa starting up and in direct competion. All the work providers will have to cope with us and it will be gloves off stuff.
If you start again you will have to be comfortable that your investment is safe in their hands.
I would insist on no sole agency clause,no restriction of trade on leaving,4 week notice (without reason) being given,a maximum account limit of £10,000 inc Vat with no lee way(this works that they have to bring their balance below the limit otherwise they are on stop until a payment is made),100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} payment and the scrapping of the advance(they have to pay you for your work and wait for the monies from work source themselves.
This stops them using your cash flow to run their business.
the above will prove how desperate they are to get the work done….

ParticipantThank you all for your support and comments, most appreciated.
I have just had a message to inform me that the NESN meeting has been re scheduled for next Friday with appologies.
Gives me a little more time to focus.

ParticipantConsider this while you make you’re decision please.
In less than a fortnight after putting them on stop, I have increased our chargeable work by about 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. Mainly due to the fact we can now offer a far better and faster service when we are not bogged down with high volume, low profit work. Apart from that, chargeable calls pay 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} immedietly.
TBH I think I would be a few sandwiches short of a picnic to even consider regaining NESN work, unless they guaranteed 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} payment within 60 days, and NO coverplan work at all.

ParticipantHi All,
had a call Friday morning from J.Ts secretary, asking if they can change the meeting to Wed 22.9.03 to enable other NESN staff to atend also! 😯
The plot thickens, I think they are very interested in my brown goods business. This is the work I am really interested in, and I know this is far more secure as this is the backbone of NESN. 😀
May be used as a carrot though! 😥
I will report full details on Wednesday. 😈

I know what I’d like to do with a carrot to JT 😯
Trouble is knowing the Audi TT driver type person he is, he’d probably come back for more 😉

KeymasterNo doubt you’ll get the “everything is fine and you’ll make loads of money” sales pitch.
All I’d say is watch any contractrual implications very carefully indeed.

ParticipantTodays meeting with JT cancelled again! Maria said JT got a phone call after lunch to inform him that Endeva had gone in to receivership this morning. He was called back to the office to arrange meetings with the clients effected by the Endeva demise! 🙁
I have several contacts within Endeva, and they handle a lot of whitegoods installs and repairs, quite a lot of Whirlpool work also.
I think NESN are more interested in the stacks of browngoods work Endeva handled.
Keep your ears to the ground, Network DASA could be called upon soon 😀

KeymasterAs I said, we all need to be paid more to make it work, brown and whitegoods.
However, I just can see JT hovering like a grinning vulture over the dead carcass of Endeva. 😉
I also note that the NESN propoganda machine stepped up a notch to try to reassure everyone that they were on target financially, that being the cases then I have to ask, why the f**k can they not pay their bills on time?
