KeymasterI know a lot of you do replacements etc so how’s this for an idea…
If UKW can negogiate a “preferential” discount for appliance sales using the buying power of us all, kind of like a buying group if you like, would you be interested in it?
Since you all know I’m open and honest it would work like this…
On trust we’ll set up a dedicated email address to send queries and order to that are routed to a special UKW mail address which gives you all access to a better discount. 1{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the discount offered comes back into UKW coffers as I don’t think that’s silly and if we can get an extra 4 or 5 points knocked off then negligable really I hope. So we all get a better deal and fund UKW a bit into the bargain so everyone’s happy.
Thoughts?

Sounds good to me.
Who would we approach for such a deal, manufacturers or independant distributers ?
Anyone know of an exceptionally good distributer to deal with ?
Dave.

We use D.A.D. at Gloucester for the majority of our stock. They do keep a core range of stock available for immediate delivery and a range of special offers each month. They are also able to “special order” from virtually any of the major suppliers at very competitive prices, who can deliver anywhere on UK mainland. Very rarely do we have any damage on deliveries and I cannot recall the last time we had a shortage either. All staff have their own e addresses so contact is easy as well. An all round good supplier.
We source Whirlpool products from Harris and Russell who are also able to deliver anywhere on UK mainland. They are also good at some of the “brown goods” as well.
Merloni group have available an online ordering service which we use for Hotpoint, Cannon and Indesit . I understand Creda are to follow soon on the same site. They also deliver anywhere in the UK.
Just a few ideas to think about

A UKW buying group is a great idea. I used to have quite a viable trade in supplying machines to my customers years back. (Was a Hotpoint Centre buying direct from Hotpoint who paid 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of my advertising costs as well)But I stopped after I found generally my profit margin dropped to below 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. Just couldn’t compete with Currys/ Comet etc.
These days of course I can supply new appliances to my customers via the likes of Wash Vac (Excuse me….Parts Center). Hotpoint/Hoover etc delivered by the manufactures to my customer direct. But at bugger all profit really of around 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. Hardly worth the bother.
Just buying appliances on a ‘one off’ basis = No profit!
I will watch this thread with interest though.
