My second hand Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 just died this afternoon after 15 years of use and abuse. I did have the motor replaced once, but I don’t think it can be saved again as I think the board went this time.

I really don’t like disposable white goods, and after doing some research, even though the quality has suffered recently, a Bosch still seems like a good choice for our two person household.

I would like a Miele, but it just seems like such a huge investment that isn’t really necessary for us.

WAE has been discontinued, but WAE 24167 is still available for £ 270 ish, and the newer version? WAN 281000 and WAN 28280 are both available.

I haven’t looked closely at the differences between the three machines, does anyone have any advice, especially about the differences between the two WAN models.

    Many thanks.

the early WAE machines ore dependable and reliable first fault expected is 5-7 years when brushes wear out

the later machines use a brushless motor. not a fan of these myself as there is more sensitive electronics to control them. time will tell if they are as reliable as not seen any yet

Re: New Bosch WAE or WAN?

What is the difference between machines with the numbers like 241000 or 28280?

I have tried the Bosch site but there doesn’t seem to be significant differences between the machines in the same WAN category.

As far as I can tell:
    WAE24369 Classixx
    WAE24461 Maxx7
    WAE24061 Maxx 6
    Classixx WAE 28167

Classixx are the budget range and Maxx are the non-core, whatever that means.

Is it true that Siemens now make much better machines?

cant comment on Siemens apart from they come from the same stable so probably use same factories using same inner workings with different fronts

As far as engineering goes a lot of newer machines are using sealed tubs. that means if anything goes wrong with the tub the cost of repair is not worth it. I also think the non sealed tubs seem to be more reliable
you can look up the machines parts here

    http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/spareparts/search

you have not got all the Enr number so you will have to guess the end part
