Fitted genuine brushes to a beko w/m after complaint of w/m not turning drum.. brushes were the problem..

I cleaned up the motor and tested windings which were ok..When put on a spin the motor was sparking quite a bit when it ramped up..

Brushes are fitted correctly ,my question is how long would you allow for brushes to bed in before condemning the motor ❓ Could see no physical damage to motor i.e commutator ect .. megged motor which was ok.

    Thanks

That would depend on load size etc?

Did you chamfer the tip of the brush sides slightly to drop into the worn groove on the armature?

Cheers guys for input..yes i did chamfer the tip sides of the brush.

Customer says it is alot smoother today and no sparking so i guess it was because of load in drum that caused it to spark more as i only tested it on a spin first then she put her load in so may have been a little heavy bedding in the new brushes , but all is now good. Thought motor was fine when tested out of machine but it looked like bonfire nite once it got going 😀 she did admit that she had run it for a few weeks with it being noisy till the drum stopped turning altogether :rolls:
