ParticipantI purchased a Zanussi ZCE7551X cooker nearly three weeks ago and right from the start I have had problems.
Now, three weeks later I am on my 3rd cooker and having exactly the same problem – the latest cooker is even a different MAKE and MODEL (Tricity Bendix SE454)
THE PROBLEM
When I set the temperature (on all 3 cookers) to anything above 190 degreees the fan oven will come up to temperature, then after about 3 minutes the oven switches off and the interior light goes out. The temperature light stays on and about 5 minutes later teh oven switches itself back on and starts to reheat. This cycle repeats itself until I have to switch it off. All other parts of the cooker work throughout this cycle. An engineer has been out and cannot find anything wrong with any of the cookers. He has now arranged for a senior engineer to look at it and has suggested I get the electrics checked in the house.
I had my previous cooker for 5 years and never had a problem with it, or any other electrical goods.
Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

Has an engineer actaully witnessed the fault ?
Perhaps the senior engineer could phone you 30mins/1 hour before arrival and you could get the oven up to temperature before he arrives so he can actually see the fault occur.
It may well be a problem with the installation though as three cookers all with the exactly same fault is very unusual to be honest.

The engineer who came out this morning saw the fault for himself. I had the oven on for him arriving and it gone off twice before he arrived. He switched everything off and then tried it himself and it did it again while he was there. He was really bemused and spent ages trying to locate a fault but couldn’t find one which is why he is getting someone else to look at it.
meanwhile I have asked the landlord to send an electrician out to look at the electrics just to make sure!
All this is going to take another week so until then I will have to make do!

May be the cooling fan is slow or just not working, and the cooker is cutting out on the overheat stat. I wouldn’t be suprised if the overheat stat is incorrect and the wrong temperature one fitted on production. I have heard of that before !!!!!

Poor air flow around the oven gets my vote

Finally got my cooker problems all sorted.
The company gave me a (4th) new cooker and this one works perfectly. I had an electrician come and look at the circuit and check the installation and he couldn’t find anything wrong.
I still don’t know whay 3 cookers wouldn’t work properly but this one does and I’m happy!
Thanks for all your responses.
