ParticipantGreetings.
I am in the market now for a new dishwasher. Years ago we had a Zanussi DCE 5655, and when that finally packed up we moved over to the Zanussi ZSF 2420.
Having moved house, we do now have room for a full size dishwasher – and the extra capacity would be welcome. Also, having looked at the available tabletop options, they are prohibitively expensive for their size (I’m sure they were much cheaper in the past, but it’s been over 16 years since we last purchased, possibly nearer 20 years – so it hasn’t done badly!
Right now I have my eye on a few models – I would like your thoughts on them, and suggestions of anything in a similar price bracket. (Colour is irrelevant)
My biggest issue is trying to see them in the metal.
1. Haier I-Pro Shine Series 7 XF-4A4M4PA – £799 – Warranty 10yr parts/5yr labour
A/B rated – 54 kWh/100 cyc – 9.5 l/cyc – 44 dB(A) CPI 1.121 DPI 1.061 – 14 place settings2. Haier I-Pro Shine Series 5 XF-6B0M3PDA – £599 – Warranty 10yr parts/5yr labour
B/B rated – 66 kWh/100 cyc – 9.5 l/cyc – 40 dB(A) CPI 1.121 DPI 1.061 – 16 place settings3. KENWOOD (Currys!) KDW16T23 – £599 – Guarantee 1 year
A/B rated – 56 kWh/100 cyc – 9.5 l/cyc – 43 dB(A) CPI 1.125 DPI 1.065 – 16 place settings4. LG TrueSteam DF587HMS – £699 (was £899) – Warranty 10yr parts/5yr labour
A/B rated – 49 kWh/10 0cyc – 9.5 l/cyc – 42 dB(A) – CPI 1.121 – DPI 1.061 – 14 place settings5. BEKO Pro PowerIntense BDFN36560PFX – £569 Warranty 1yr labour/10yr parts
A/B rated – 55 kWh/100 cyc – 8.9 l/cyc – 41 dB(A) – CPI 1.130 – DPI 1.070 – 15 place settings6. BOSCH Series 6 PerfectDry SMS6ZCW10G – £699 (was £799) – 5 year warranty
B/B rated – 65 kWh/100 cyc – 9.0 l/cyc – 40 dB(A) – CPI 1.121 – DPI 1.061 – 14 place settingsThe Kenwood has only piqued my interest as it was picked out by QuietMark, but having seen it is only using the Kenwood name by license, and is made by (for) Currys, I’m less inclined to go for it. Also the lack of warranty puts me off straight away. But, according to the figures it’s the second best at cleaning and drying (I presume that’s in Eco mode?).
I like the steam features of the LG, but it’s also more to go wrong.
Of the 2 Haier models, apart form the place settings and ratings, the only real difference I seem to be able to find is that the 7 can adjust the rear feet from the front., which is a nice feature – but is it worth an extra £200!? But I am kind of leaning towards them.
I’ve looked at the Hoover equivalents of the Haier (same parent company), but they only seem to have a 1 year labour (but still 10 year parts) warranty, and slightly poorer reviews.
I’m wary of Beko, as I see them as a budget brand. And they don’t have all the bells and whistles, but it comes out top for cleaning and drying allegedly.
I’m wary of Samsung – I love their phones and TVs, and have 1 of their fridges. But a friend has one of their washing machines and has all sorts of issues with it.
I want the extra cutlery tray in the top, the more suitable for cutlery with chunky handles the better.
And I’m not fussed about wireless connectivity.

Moderatorfrom my point of view the Bosch is the one i would go for
not a great lover of hoover these days and since Haier now owns them that makes me wary as they do not seemed to have changed much to improve the brand
Kenwood as you say is one of those names you can use for a price. so currys import rubbish and brand it Kenwood
LG not sure some LG stuff is ok some not. Seen very few dishwashers
Beko as you say is a budget brand but they often last quite well against competitors. They also make Blomberg which carries better warranties
With Bosch you could also look at Neff and Siemans as its the same company so will be identical works
you old zanussi machine will never be produced these days the idea of reliability has moved aside to be replaced by price. Zanussi is owned by Electrolux and they are reducing the use of the zanussi brand in the uk to favour AEG. Also a lot of John Lewis own brand machines are AEG in disguise
will tag out retail guru to see if he has recovered from Christmas

any more ideas Don ?

ModeratorHave recently installed a Kenwood dishwasher in our daughters and son in law new cafe. I have to say I am impressed by the build, wash quality and ease of use for the price point of £300.
Beko and Blomberg are basically the same as they both come under the same umbrella, bells and whistles along with guarantee length may vary, that could be worth a deeper look. Neff is all integrated appliances which leaves you with Bosch and Siemens.
Nowadays due to the builds not being as good as they used to be I would go with a machine that has a good guarantee and as I am a firm believer in Bosch that is where I would be spending my money.
HNY 🙂

ParticipantThanks Guys. Warranty was definitely high up the consideration list.
Managed to have a look round our biggest Currys the other day, John Lewis, and some Euronics. No one had the LGs in stock so we couldn’t compare them. All the places that do have showroom stock seem to be up in the Midlands, and we’re in the South.
We settled on the most expensive Haier in the end, despite the possible issues with build quality over Siemens/Bosch there were 3 selling points to us…
• ALL the combs/tines in both baskets fold flat.
• And extra set of sprayers on the cutlery trays
• TEN years parts AND labour warrant (when bought direct through Haier)We looked at it’s little brother (I still don’t understand how it can get an extra 2 place settings and still be the same size), but it only had 5 years labour (still had 10 years parts). And Bosch, as good as they are, are only offering 5 years P&L. Plus not all the tines fold.

https://www.haier-europe.com/en_GB/products/32002596-xf-6b0m3pda-80The Mrs was drawn to it like a moth to a flame, so there’s an element of Happy Wife, Happy Life too – she wasn’t so keen on the Bosch/Siemens.
Having seen that Currys charge nearly £5/month for an additional plan, that’s £240 over 5 years, which on balance covers the price difference between the 5 and the 7 for the extra included manufacturer warranty, plus the extra features.
It seems a bit weird going from a table top to a full size when there’s just the 2 of us, but the ability for half loads (top or bottom only) compensates for that, and we will finally be able to machine wash all our big oven pans and mixing bowls etc…
I just hope she’s happy with it once it’s installed.
