ParticipantThe 2nd door spring in my old Homark 800720 integrated dishwasher has final snapped so that the weight of the door is no longer held. The 1st spring went some time ago and I never got around to replacing it.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier of spare parts for this model?
Do Homark still exist as a brand or have they been bought out?
The dishwasher was included in a new house we purchased 10 years ago and we took it with us when we moved into our current house 6 years ago. It has been faultless apart from the door springs and so I am reluctant to change it for some modern cheap piece of plastic that has built in redundancy after the 1 year warranty has expired 😉

KeymasterEither Dave or Woz should be able to point you in the right direction.
If they are still available Dave should be able to get them for you if you mail him on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk he’ll check it out tomorrow and get back to you.

Could you double check the model please as I can only find 800270 listed.

I’ve doubled checked the model number shown on the front of the machine and it definately shows 800720. Strange that it is so similar to 800270!
I could email some photos of the spring, showing it attached to the machine to determine if it is the same as those shown on the 800270.

Please do, as I have no listing for that model for some reason 😕

KeymasterAt the age it may well be obsolete. 🙁

Nope, not obsolete, I’ve managed to identify 😀
And there’s tale to go with it……
Another customer with a similar aged model asked about door hinges and springs so armed with two enquiries I phoned Caremark as they were/are the main agent for Homark spares.
Turns out they are both different dishwashers and one of the parts for the other one is obsolete, but this particular one for milleniumaire is no problem. So I asked for the price – £25.85 inc VAT for both springs :eeek: I was told so I asked for the part number, turns out it’s a Fagor, so, I phoned their main agent and the springs are actually only £5.06 each inc VAT. Add £3.50 for.
If you would like them ordered, drop me an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and I’ll let you have further info 🙂

Hi Dave,
An excellent piece of detective work. Have you ever considered joining the CID?
I appreciate the time you have taken looking into this for me and have sent you an email as requested.

Dave
the dishwasher being 10 years old i do believe it’s the merloni model
milleniumaire has. Originally sold by B&Q.|The fagor version was a temporary batch we bought in when merloni let us down big time with a delivery.
This version had a “F” on the end of the model number 800270F to identify
it.The actual spring needed are
444008400 for the right hand
444008300 for the left hand.I don’t think these are obsolete. But don’t quote me though.

Woz

Yeah, I looked at the Merloni version but the hinge/spring looks nothing like the photos Paul emailed to me.
The Fagor looks very similar though so I’ll stick with them for now 😉

Why do the springs have different model numbers?
Although I have only taken one spring out, I assumed that the sping at the other side would be the same as there isn’t much to them. The one I took out doesn’t appear to be “handed” so that it only works on the left!
Dave, I will call you on Tuesday as I assume the office is closed for the Bank Holiday.

They’re handed on the Merloni version, the Fagor one’s I hope are correct aren’t, they are both the same.
We’re open Saturday Paul 🙁

Dave,
Just to let you know I received the door springs and although they were about an inch longer than the originals they still fit the door and it is now operating as good as new. Hopefully, we might get another year out of the dishwasher before it needs to be replaced.
Thanks for you help.

Thanks for letting me know 😀
Shame they were’t quite the right one’s though, at least it’s working that’s the main thing.

Dave,
Although they were longer they still fit perfectly. The design of the dishwasher door provides about 8 various positions onto which one end of the spring can be hooked. These positions can be used to make the spring more or less taught and hence affect how easily the door springs closed. Because the springs were longer I simply used the different positions to attach the springs and they work perfectly. So, I would say these were definately the right springs for my dishwasher.
