    Hi

Cooker went bang on Monday, loud bang and a few flames, done it before and simply replaced element, thought it was same again as element was very scarred/ hole in it when i removed it.

Purchased element and fitted, but no heat from the element ?? lights on , fan working, grill working, everything but heat from the element. One other thing to note is the thermostat aint clicking when turned also, this is a brand new thermostat one month old so know this is ok.

Can anybody offer advice as to what else to check, a very puzzling problem ? For info – model homark 700306 electric grill oven.

    Thanks

    Gavin

If it’s not clicking, it’s not OK – element fusing will have fused the contacts, so element and stat required.

    Ok

Thanks for the repsonse, but it is only a month old, are you sure the element burning out would have knackered a month old genuine part thermostat, not doubting, just dont want to spend more money one month after buying a new thermostat, it never did this on previous occasions, just new element required.

    Thanks

Big bang = big load back through system. Stat should click just after turning on – if it doesn’t, it’s goosed. Testing with multi meter (and the power off) will confirm. Very unlucky IMO.

Re: new element not working ?

Gavin , I`d be slightly careful here because as Chris has explained an element blowing can damage the thermostat but 9 times out of 10 it would leave the thermostat shorted (ie permanently on and not switching off).
Certainly not healthy if stat is not clicking but you may have other damaged parts (as a result of the element failure)as you have no heat.

If the thermostat indicator light is coming on then I would suggest damage elsewhere.

Re: new element not working ?

I’m having a problem with my homark 700301 – The oven element blew and I replaced it, but the whole oven is dead – no grill, no fan, no anything. Hob on the same circuit is fine. I opened it up but I can’t seee anything that looks like a fuse or cut-out. Anything else I should try?

could be a thermal cut-out gone, have swapped a couple of those in recent weeks with exactly the same symptoms.

Power off if you are to investigate yourself or use the engineer link below if in any doubt.

Re: new element not working ?

    Thanks all for the advice.

I checked the timer and replaced the element, took me 2 weeks to get the time to do it during the day – I’m so paranoid about the power I cut the whole house while I work. the only thing left to try is the thermal cut-out but I don’t know if this model (homark 700301)has one, where it is/they are, and what they look like. Unlucky for me I’m on the Isle of Man, no chance of gettting one of your approved guys to look at it, so can anyone describe diagnosis/replacement/ part numbers in more detail?

    ta in advance
