had some new FEW12 in today very worrying. it appears the tub cannot be split so no bearing changes or strip down for stuck whatever, air chamber moulded onto tub so no clean outs machine does have a pump filter, valve fitted directly onto soap dis like the indesit
anyone know anything?wilf 🙄

Isn’t there enough ammunition in this thread and others for a front page story about this appalling waste of resources and also the way in which appliance manufacturers are taking the P155 out of joe public.
Shouldn’t a new Indes*it or Hotperloni washer carry a public warning that it cannot be repaired.
Does Which magazine read these forums?

You’re absolutely right, EFS. It’s a scandal and it flies in the face of the WEEE regs as well. Also, if we change a drum for a customer (assuming they are daft enough to go ahead with the job on a machine that has proven itself to be completely cr*p), do we leave the drum assembly for them to dispose of? It is, after all, their property. How does that figure? And under the new regs, how the hell do we dispose of such large chunks of machine? I can’t even get into my local tip with hedge cuttings!!
Can we somehow put this as a sticky in the public forums under the heading ‘friendly advice’ as we are not lying or slandering anyone or anything; we are stating irrefutable facts. Customers will eventually find out the truth either way. I am finding more and more customers are not happy with the ‘3B’s’ approach (buy it, boot it, bin it) and are increasingly asking me to recommend higher quality machines. Most seem happy to pay more to get better machines. Maybe the tide is turning?Re: new FEW 12
So now we know Hotpoint ‘First Edition’ series (FEW10 – FEW12) is an Indesit clone with the one piece drum. It is after all yet another budget product at the bottom end of the market. 🙄
So what about their latest ‘Aquarius’ series, does that also use the one piece drum technology?
More importantly, Hotpoint are pushing their up-market ‘Aqualtis’ range, how is that put together I wonder?

It seems at the moment we are pissing in the wind in our fight to stop disposable appliances coming onto the market. However the tide will turn very soon as more and more people realise the damage being done by our throw away habits. I would suggest, if its not already being done that UKW approach different groups/organizations to highlight the state of our profession. For example the Ethical Consumer Magazine often runs reviews on electrical appliances often giving the Antonio Merloni group top marks can you believe. So there is one group we need to have a word with.
Would be nice to see a write up in the Independent one day with our views on this dross we are left to work with.
Last but not least we could always lobby the government. No I will take that one back as it would be a complete waste of time.

The new 7kg machine ultimas have the one piece drum, as far as im aware machines that use to use the wma drum will have the one piece in it or if not will do soon.
